Origin: Eastern Pacific (from Alaska to Mexico).
Colonized areas: Throughout the world. Considered to be one of the most widespread non-native fish species in the world.
Method of colonization: Voluntary introduction for sport fishing.
Impacts: Hybridization, transmission of disease, predation and competition with indigenous fish species.
Rate of reproduction: 700 to 4000 eggs per clutch.
Obstacles to eradication: Very widespread distribution, value for sport fishing.
